Functionality description

At Epoptia MES there is an integrated barcode system available to manufacturers for fast identification.

Work order lines have unique identification numbers.

These numbers are produced from Epoptia's numbering system or from the ERPs system.

The numbering system might be a combination of ERP numbers and Epoptia numbers. Check the personalization options for the numbering system.

The configuration of the numbering system provides the unique number of the work order lines

Barcodes are applied to these work order line numbers as a means of quick identification. The barcode format that Epoptia produces is Databatrix and can be printed from administrator dashboards or even workstations.

When a barcode is triggered in a workstation, the work order "Start" or "Completed", depending on the workstation working mode (tracking mode only or tracking & time measurement mode).

Advantages

With the use of a barcode system, the manufacturer has the following advantages:

  • An identification system that follows the product across production, which is aligned with the ERP system (or Epoptia)
  • Operators will have an amazingly fast search capability, for starting or completing work orders.

To which manufacturers is it addressed?

The barcode system might be used to specific production stages and is quite useful to manufacturers with the following characteristics:

  • High mix-manufacturing, where searching costs a lot of time
  • Cutting machines where the operator has to process many pieces from different work orders, at the same time. Such as:
    • Laser cutting machines
    • Woodcutting machines
    • Αluminum saw
